Alexis Matter

Hi! I’m Alexis Matter (aka Momo). I am an associate astronomer at the Côte d’Azur Observatory (OCA), working in the Lagrange laboratory.

I’ve been involved in optical interferometry, and especially in the MATISSE project, since my PhD (obtained in 2010, so quite some time ago 😁). I have been a user of the first generation VLTI instruments AMBER and MIDI. Since 2015, i have been more deeply involved in the MATISSE project as responsible for the development of the MATISSE exposure time calculator, and have also participated to the installation, test, and commissioning of the instrument in Chile.

My main research interest is the observation and modelling (geometrical and radiative transfer) of protoplanetary disks around young stars. The aim is a better understanding of the different steps leading to a planetary system. I have also worked in the field of extrasolar planets and solar system minor bodies.

I also teach at Université Côte d’Azur, mainly in the frame of the Master MAUCA.

Don’t hesitate to drop me an email if you have any question concerning the school.
