Bonjour, I’m Anthony Meilland, CNRS researcher in astrophysics working at the Lagrange Laboratory in Nice, a joint facility of the CNRS, the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur, and The Université Côte d’Azur.
Since I started my phD in 2004 on observations and modelling of classical Be stars circumstellar disks using the Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI) a facility located in the Atacama desert in Chile (wonderful place to go), I’ve been working on massive stars & interferometry using instruments at VLTI and at its Northern/US counterpart, the Center for High Angular Resolution Astronomy (CHARA) located at Mount Wilson, California (great place to go too).
I joined the MATISSE project in 2012, and since then I have been responsible for the development of its real-time fringe coherencing software. I also participated in the installation, test, and commissioning of the instrument in Chile.
Three years ago, I lost a bet with Florentin Millour and that is why I am the chairman of this VLTI School that should have taken place near my wonderful home town of Antibes if not for the covid crisis…
